Fort Drum Six Shooters Squadron 6-6 Cavalry
Family Appreciation Day
Saturday, August 1, 2009,
Watertown, New York

The Midwest Renegades Equestrian Drill Team caravan arrived in Cape Vincent, New York after a very long drive from Woodstock, Illinois. We kept the horses at a wonderful placed called Copper Top Stables. We were eager to perform at the Alex Duffy Fairgrounds in Watertown to honor our servicemen and women and their families with performances by all of our teams and specialty acts.

The day's activities included the Dare Devils Patriotic trick riding equestrian drill, the Dirt  Devils Youth Drill Team, a solo routine with Bev & Zeke "The Wonder Horse," Roman Riding, the original Renegades 1920's Chicagoland Gangster style drill, the mini horse pirates driving team, a Liberty tribute to our.Fallen Heroes, the Dare Devils performance stunt drill, and pot luck lunch provided by the families.

The pictures above show FUN for kids of ALL ages!

Lord, keep our servicemen and women safe, whether they serve at home or overseas.
Hold them in your loving hands and protect them as they protect us.
Let's all keep those currently serving and those who have gone before in our thoughts.
They are the reason for the many freedoms we enjoy.
In God We Trust.

We would like to honor
our Fallen Hero
Chief Warrant Officer
Matthew G. Kelley
brother-in-law of one
of our riders.
Killed in action in Iraq
on Jan. 26, 2009, he was
assigned to the Tenth
Mountain Division as a
Kiowa helicopter pilot.

As a young man, Matthew Kelley held a strong interest in aviation and his life-long dream was to become a professional pilot. When the need for service arose, he enlisted in the United States Army, completed basic, advanced, and airborne training at Fort Benning, GA. He was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC. and served as an Airborne Combat Infantryman in Iraq.
When he returned from Iraq he enrolled in Aviation Warrant Officer School, graduated, and was assigned as Kiowa pilot in the Tenth Mountain Division at Fort Drum, NY. Late last year, he was transferred again to Iraq to fly Kiowas as a member of B Troop, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division.
Matthew was devoted to his wife, DaLana, his two children, Megan and Tyler, his brother, Christopher, who is also a veteran of the Iraq War, and to his God. He died serving his country, protecting us and our way of life, the freedoms we all enjoy, and doing what he truly loved, flying.

The other Fallen Heroes who lost their lives along with CW2 Kelley are:

Chief Warrant Officer 2
Joshua Tillery

Chief Warrant Officer 2
Benjamin Todd

Chief Warrant Officer 3
Philip Windorski, Jr.
All four heroes were from the 6th Squadron, 6th Cavalry Regiment,
10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division.
